Overview of the Pioneer Project

The Pioneer Project involves a group of mining claims including and surrounding the historic Pioneer Silver Mine, which was actively mined in the 1880s. The mine shut down in the mid-1880s as operations below 200 feet deep became increasingly rich in zinc. Smelters in the 1880s rejected ore containing high zinc values, making zinc poison to silver mining back then. Today, that zinc is no longer a detriment—it is a very valuable asset.

Why the Pioneer is a great target today

The Pioneer is centered right in the middle of one of the most productive porphyry copper provinces in the world. It sits within 16 miles of the Copper Cities porphyry, Inspiration porphyry, Pinto Creek porphyry, Silver King Mine, Resolution porphyry, Magma Mine, Ray Porphyry, and Christmas Porphyry. Mineral deposits associated with this region can be fabulously rich, and there are indications that the Pioneer is related to the underlying crustal structures and rock layers that led to the formations of these deposits.
