Overview of the Pioneer Project
The Pioneer has a rich history that includes the discovery of the silver veins by two prospectors, the growth of the town of Pioneer around the mines, and typical Old West drama such as stagecoach holdups, shootings, lynchings, and barfights.
History of the Pioneer in the 1900s
There were several times when people examined the Pioneer for re-opening, but each time there were factors that prevented it from happening. Despite this, experts and consultants continued to assert that the Pioneer was a great mine waiting to happen.
Why the Pioneer is a great target today
The Pioneer is centered right in the middle of one of the most productive porphyry copper provinces in the world. It is centered in Arizona's famous "Copper Triangle". It sits within 16 miles of the Resolution Porphyry, Copper Cities Porphyry, Inspiration Porphyry, Pinto Valley Porphyry, Silver King Mine, Magma Mine, Ray Porphyry, Chilito Porphyry, Superior East Porphyry, Christmas Porphyry, and the newly discovered Ocelot Porphyry. Mineral deposits associated with this region can be fabulously rich, and there are indications that the Pioneer is related to the underlying crustal structures, magma chambers, and rock layers that led to the formations of these deposits.
The geology of the Pioneer deposit presents a compelling opportunity, and there are various geophysical methods that we can use to develop high priority drill targets in an attempt to find high grade ore deposits.
Our exploration plan focuses on using geophysical technologies to delineate the ore zones in preparation for more extensive drilling to define the ore deposits.
